Cursor: AI as a Technical Assistant

Lately, I've become increasingly convinced that Cursor is much more than just a tool for writing code. This AI has the potential to become a full-fledged assistant in automating various technical processes.

Automating Technical Processes

When a project already has code, a database, a server, an API, an admin panel, and logs, the capabilities of AI extend far beyond just creating pages. It can tackle real-world tasks that may have previously seemed tedious or time-consuming.

Examples of AI Usage

  • Bulk data updates in databases.
  • Duplicate cleaning.
  • Content importing.
  • SEO metadata generation.
  • Broken link checking.
  • Writing one-time parsers.
  • Error searching in logs.
  • Conducting technical audits.
  • Analyzing site visibility to search bots.

AI as Part of the Project

Cursor is no longer just a chatbot offering advice. It's an AI integrated into the project: it understands code and structure, can work through the terminal, write scripts, execute commands, and check their results.

Benefits of AI Integration

We often think of AI coding as a way to implement projects faster. However, in practice, it can become a means to swiftly resolve numerous minor technical tasks that were previously postponed due to a lack of time, resources, or budget.

Control and Security

Of course, it's essential to closely monitor AI actions, especially when dealing with production systems, finances, or user data. Nonetheless, the overall direction of development is very promising: AI is becoming not just a code generator but a technical assistant within the product.
